Reading, Writing or Spelling Tutor

Time: 1-3 hours per week. How long, when and where is up to the learner and tutor.

 

Help Required: There are a wide range of learners looking for reading, writing and spelling help. Some are very basic learners who are still learning phonetics and basic word sounds. The intermediate learners are reading at a grade 2 or 3 level. These learners are still working on comprehension and increasing vocabulary. The more advanced learners are looking to improve grammar, vocabulary and work on some writing skills. We also have the occasional ESL learner. We DO NOT offer conversational English at Yukon Learn (this is done through SISY, a separate organization), however we do help people learn how to read and write in English.

 

Skills Needed: A reading/writing/spelling tutor needs to feel comfortable with the English language, but needs no formal training. First and foremost tutors need to be patient, encouraging and understanding.
