Community Learning Network

Yukon Community Learning Network

This year the YLS is working on a special project that will see the development of literacy learning environments in five Yukon Communities.

The Yukon Community Learning Network is a pilot project that provides literacy learners in rural communities the opportunities to access on -line and blended skill training.

Coordinators in five communities have set up a learning centre, equipped with computers internet access.  They are assisting learner to improve their abilities in the nine essential skills through e-learning.  E-learning programs use technologies to provide access to literacy and numeracy training, job-related and technical training, soft skills, workplace skills, GED and other learners directed opportunities.

E-learning provides an opportunity for learners to create an individual study plan and progress at their own pace, at a time that is convenient for them.  The project is bringing learning centres to remote learners, allowing them to access word-wide learning opportunities from their own communities.
